Cake decorating is an alchemic art because we can transform a simple paste made with a cup of sugar, lime juice and gelatin to make the most beautiful flowers. We can transform a mix of flour, butter and eggs into a marvelous cake and shape it any way we desire. With that transformation we bring happiness to the people that receive it.
Speaking of transformation, gratitude transform people lives. I know many individuals who report that becoming grateful changed their lives. The particular means by which you go about counting your blessings will depend on your individual personality, goals, and needs. You may choose a fixed time simply to contemplate each of your objects of gratitude and perhaps also to reflect as to why you are grateful and how your life have been enriched. I am grateful for my creativity. Creativity blends all the best elements of human nature: perception, imagination, intellect, courage, intuition, and empathy. We need to be able to see, feel, taste, hear, and smell the magnificence around us. We need to take on this magnificence at more than face value. Imagining its innumerable possibilities; the different color tones in a rose or a calla lily, the expression we can place on a sugar baby face, the way to recreate sugar lace, and decorate a magnificent wedding cake with brush embroidery that becomes piece of art through strokes of a paint brush and royal icing.
We must free our minds of antique thoughts and sing a new song; enjoy the classic beauty, and create with vibrant colors a modern cake design. Envision a unique way, use our creativity with clarity, even if we seem to be faced with the same material we've encountered hundreds of times before. We have the grand honor of being conduits for divine imagination. Gratefulness brings happiness.
